You need to think of how your article can be repurposed into a variety of consumable forms.

Your article as text

Write your article and then submit it to the article directories. First go deep on EzineArticles. Second go wide by submitting your articles to other popular article directories. Third submit your article to niche article directories. And finally submit your articles to your own article directories.

Your article as audio

Then you can repurpose your article content into audio. One way is to simply read and talk about your article, record it and create CDs. My favorite way though to repurpose my article content into audio content is with teleseminars. Conduct a teleseminar and record it and then you can turn that recording into audio CDs, podcasts, mp3, etc.

Then building out the other side you can have that recording transcribed and then repurpose the transcription into more text articles. In this way, as my colleague and friend Alex Mandossian says, you can "write with your mouth and not with your hands."

Your article as video

When you take your article content and repurpose it into video and then put that video on You Tube, you now have links coming back to your web site from the second highest ranked web site in the world. All you have to do is video yourself taking about your article, make and explain a few points, and there is your video.

Article Marketing - How I Discovered a Gold Mine

Article Marketing for me is like a gold mine. A gold mine because when I write articles and submit them to the right article directory, I make money. Very predictable, and consistent.

Here is how I did it:

When I first got started online, I read something about writing and submitting articles to multiple article directories for the purpose of generating backlinks to my web site.

But through some form of beginners luck or something, I had the good fortune of tracking my links and I found that the bulk of my traffic was coming from the articles that I submitted to the big three article directories. Wow, I thought what if I just submit to the big three and I can focus on writing instead of submitting everywhere? And so that is what I did and my traffic from articles is pretty awesome. And the traffic is direct, from the article directories, rather than from the search engines.

I think the real key for me was realizing that the way to go was with the few article directories that get the most hits, and just work on getting the hits, rather than the search engine rankings. And it has worked out quite nicely for me. I continually rake in thousands of hits per month, directly from the article directories.

Heres what to do:

1) Write keyword optimized articles.

2) Write a good bio, including your link

3) Submit these articles to the top 1-3 article directories online, based on traffic.

Article Marketing - Getting Started In Article Writing

Article marketing has long been touted as an effective strategy for marketing an online business. However, writing many articles and submitting them is easier said than done. One needs to follow a formula so that he will consistently churn out quality articles.

Firstly, you need to have a goal in your article marketing efforts. What are you trying to accomplish? Are you trying to get direct sales? Are you trying to get leads for your business? Or perhaps you just want to create brand awareness? It is important to state your goals before getting started. This 'streamlines' your article marketing efforts and you won't get distracted by other less important tasks. Having a goal helps you keep focused.

Next, you need to have a schedule for writing your articles. Sure, you can write 10 articles and take the rest of the week off. Article directories are free to use, so this is one of the best cost-effective ways to market online. Its a good idea to spend some time reading other articles written by authors in your niche, to get a feel for it and tune your mind to write quality articles.

1. Failure to go deep - Going deep means writing enough articles to make a difference. So many marketers write just a few articles and that's it. Then they say that article marketing does not work, when in fact it works great, some people just don't work it! Article marketing is a numbers game. The higher the number of articles you have, the higher all your other numbers are going to be. So choose one of the higher ranked article directories and go deep with lots of articles on that one directory.

2. Failure to go wide - At the same time, others will only submit to one article directory and no others. While you can get results and traffic from just one article directory, why would you wan to limit yourself to just one when you can get results from many article directories? Going wide with your article distribution allows you to reach readers that you would not be able to reach otherwise.

3. Failure to go long - I see so many people start out all gung ho in article marketing and then fade out, complaining that article marketing does not work. You need to be in it for the long haul. You want to think of this as a long term business. I get new visitors and new subscribers every day from articles that I wrote and submitted years ago.

Article Submission Software - Do They Really Work?

There are probably dozens of article submission software in the market nowadays such as Article Post Robot, Article Submitter, Artemis Pro, Article Announcer and so on. These software are built to submit your articles to hundreds of free article directories. But the questions I kept hearing over at article marketing forums and blogs are whether these article submission software really work and whether you can get penalized for duplicate content.

Personally, I have used quite a number of article submission software and services to submit my articles to the directories. The truth is they do work well in a few ways. I have written hundreds of articles and for each article, I will submit them to hundreds of free article directories using my software. Just what are the effects and benefits?

For each article submitted to the directories, all it takes is a few hours semi-automatic or automatic submission. I compared this to the amount of time I used to spend submitting manually and that is a huge difference. I managed to cut my time by more than 90%. Not only so, after checking Google about 2 to 3 days later, I start to see quite a number of backlinks coming from these articles to my website. A lot of these articles get indexed quickly within the next week or so and soon, I have more than a few hundred backlinks for my website from article directories.

Having checked the traffic logs, I realized that using these article submission software not only gets me more organic traffic from the search engines, some of the traffic are coming from article directories as well as other related websites that picked up my articles. So in other words, I am getting both organic traffic as a result of my increased link popularity, and inorganic traffic from visitors at the article directories, articles that are indexed in the search engines and traffic from related websites.

But my experience is that some article submission software are built using more intelligent engines. To quote an example, some software simply cannot do a good job of posting to the correct article category. That is the biggest headache for me but I quickly realized it and switched to those which are smart enough to recognize which category to submit my articles under. Since then, it has worked well for me.

What about duplicate content from submitting the same article to hundreds of article directories using article submission software? Well, the duplicate content filter does kicks in eventually after a month or two, but you will realize that in the long run, on average 30 to 60% of the articles still remain indexed so you still get a fair bit of traffic and link popularity from there. To me, it is fair since I am saving tons of time that I can use to write more articles.
