Website Promotion Strategies - Using PPC Marketing

As an effort to get website traffic, many website owners have already begun using pay-per-click advertising. When Google introduced Adwords, webmasters were impressed that they only had to pay a fee when someone actually visited their website.

Examples of PPC Marketing

Google AdWords permits advertisers to create advertisements (based on content) that eventually appear on the search results page of the Google search engine. Websites that give the OK to allow these kinds of advertisements to appear on their pages will receive monetary compensation in return. Every time someone clicks on an ad displayed on a web page, the owner of the site accumulates profit.

Yahoo also offers pay-per-click advertising, although Google is the industry leader and most recognizable. Yahoo's pay-per-click program used to be called Overture, but is now called Yahoo Search Marketing.

Together, these two services make up the largest pay per click systems on the World Wide Web. However, many other individual sites provide website owners with different sponsorship possibilities, such as ExactSeek, ABC Search, and Enhance.

PPC Marketing Benefits

The attractiveness of pay per click is seen in the level of targeting available to advertisers. With PPC, it is rather uncomplicated to market to the kind of audience you wish to reach. Many site owners have positioned advertisements that only appear when specific search terms are used or on websites that cater to a particular kind of readership. This method increases the quality of traffic that visits a site - bringing in visitors that are more likely to show interest in the type of products or services you are offering.

Another benefit of pay per click advertising is the fact you only pay for the clicks to your site. There's no need to pay simply for exposure, you only pay for actual visitors who are interested in what is being sold at your site. In addition, tracking your results isn't a hassle, because in-depth statistics (given in real-time) show you exactly how your marketing is doing. This is one reason PPC has gained a great following amongst online businesses that solely use the Internet for advertising, as well as traditional companies (bricks-and-mortar) that are searching for effective methods of marketing.

Because pay per click marketing allows webmasters to track and target their results, the offline advertising such as magazine, newspaper, and television have suffered a decrease in advertising sales. PPC has also replaced CPM (cost per thousand impressions) advertising that once served as the original foundation used to sell advertising on websites. With CPM, advertisers had to paid for their advertisements whether they produced traffic to their website or not. This method did help the branding of a business, but didn't help much with getting sales. And advertisers weren't able to track or modify their efforts because they had no way of assessing the effectiveness or progress of their ads.

If you want to get the best results possible from your pay per click campaigns, it is recommended to become familiar with how the overall system works. Step-by-step pay per click guides are offered on the Internet.

7 Characteristics Of A Great Webpage

What makes for a great webpage?

Wouldn't you like to know the main ingredients for creating a superior webpage? What basic elements you must have if you want a solidly designed webpage? A webpage that will stand out and be noticed by your visitors. One that will keep those visitors returning to your site, again and again. An effective webpage that is 95% better than most of the other pages on the Net.

Follow these simple design features when creating your next webpage and you will have the answer:

1. Good Keywords

The nucleus. The conception. Good keywords are the very first building blocks you must consider before your webpage even becomes a dim notion in your head. Picking the right keyword or keyword phrase is the ultimate factor that will determine the success or failure of your webpage. You must do major research on the keyword or keyword phrases that will be the focal point and drawing card for your webpage.

You must get this right. It is vital. It is the single most important element of a webpage. You can use keyword research software and sites such as GoodKeywords, Wordtracker.com, Nichebot.com, or superior keyword research software such as Brad Callen's Keyword Elite.

Regardless of what process you favor, you must choose your keywords very carefully. You must check the competition for your chosen keywords or phrase. You must check the number of searches made each month for your keyword. You must also check the keyword density of your page to see if it will register in the search engines. You may have to adjust or fine-tune your keyword density at a later date.

Make sure you place your keyword in the title of your page. Place it in the first Headline on the page and many marketers also place their keyword or phrase in the url. For example: www.yourdomain.com/keyword.html This will help the search engines and surfers to find your page quicker.

2. Simple Design

Keep it simple. You must keep your webpage simple and direct. Keep it professional. Make sure it is readable and clear to all your visitors. Do a spell check. Do a grammar check. You may also want to check how your webpage looks in all types of browsers. (www.anybrowser.com) Better safe than sorry.

Keep your visitors in mind at all times when designing your webpage. Keep it on topic, keep it related to your keywords. Most marketing studies show that's it's best not to confuse your visitors with too many options. If you're selling a product or products, limit the number on each page to one product if you can.

If you have a comparison page, limit the number to three or four. Studies also show that if you present too many options or products, the conversion rate goes down, not up. Keep all your products related. If you have a page on laptops, don't start discussing the benefits of owning a SUV.

Keep your sentences short and the number of words on a page down to 200 to 300. Many sites break up longer articles into multi-pages, this will be of some inconvenience for your visitors but you will have more room for advertising, your call.

3. Optimized

Let's face it, the average webpage will get most of its traffic from the search engines, mainly Google, although MSN and Yahoo are also worth considering. Optimize your page for Google. Use a simple hierarchy, keep your pages no more than three clicks away from the main page. Linking all your pages to your index page is a good practice, always do this. The search engines will find your page faster if it is linked directly from the main index page of your site.

Using blogging software/structure that comes with such free blogging software as Wordpress will optimize your pages for you. Blogging systems have a linking hierarchy (categories, archives, etc.) that are very search engine friendly. It's almost impossible not to optimize your pages if you're using a blogging system. Plus, you have an RSS feed that will syndicate your content and place it into the search engines very quickly.

Check factors such as Mega Tags, title description and content. Use a robots text file for the search engine robots.

If you're new to building webpages, you may want to check out Google's Webpage Creator, you can create your pages and have it hosted free by Google and they will be indexed immediately in Google. Big Plus! http://www.pages.google.com

4. Easy Navigation

A great webpage will have easy and simple navigation. Link your page to and from your main index page if you can. Make sure you link to it from your sitemap page. Many webmasters put all the main links on their site at the top or the bottom of all their webpages, so that a visitor can freely move around and find what they're looking for. Keep your visitors' comfort level in mind at all times.

Double check to see all links on your webpage work! You may be surprised how many don't work, especially if you link out to other sites. The search engines don't like broken links, neither will your visitors.

Also double check to see if all images on your page display properly. Nothing will bring down the quality of your page than images that don't load.

5. Fresh Content

A great webpage will always have fresh content. Make sure you update your webpage often. Our world's technology changes rapidly, make sure your material is current and still relevant.

Remember, 9 times out of 10, the only reason a visitor is on your page is for information. Make sure you deliver. Make sure that information is recent and accurate. Besides, there is nothing like fresh content to keep your visitors interested and coming back for more.

6. Bookmarkable

A great webpage will always be bookmarkable. Your visitor will want to bookmark your page and return to it for more information. Make sure you make it easy for your visitor to bookmark your page. Use a bookmark script. Make sure you have a favicon, this is a small logo you place on your site and it will be automatically picked up and displayed in your visitor's bookmarks, drawing attention to your page. Consider a bookmark and favicon like bread crumbs, all leading the visitor back to your page.

7. Cool Factor

Every great webpage should have a WOW factor! Try to make your page stand out from the crowd. Try to make it unique, try to make it cool. Just remember, a simple professional webpage with valuable information is always cool. And remember there is nothing like a little good 'word of mouth' to get some traffic drawing PR for your page. Great buzz about your webpage is worth its worth in gold.

So the next time you're designing a webpage, go all out and try to create your webpage with all of the characteristics listed above. Start with your keywords, keep it simple, proof-read and test for coding errors, create good navigation and optimize for the search engines, make sure you provide valuable fresh content and information. Last but not least, try your hardest to make your webpage memorable and bookmarkable. Make it a professional webpage that will be superior to the majority of other pages on the web.

Aim high and you will reap the rewards.

Using SEO Software To Dominate A Keyword Phrase

Search engine optimization is, as many of us know, a great way of optimizing a web site to rank in the organic search engine results for certain key words. For instance, you aim your website internet marketing efforts at, for instance, the phrase search engine optimization resources.

This can be quite a laborious task without access to search engine optimization software. However, many people only use such software to optimize their own sites and fail to exploit it to find keywords and to study and understand the competition.

A key ingredient in ranking well for certain key words involves back linking. The more sites that link to your page picture which to optimize, preferably with your main keyword to which you aim to optimize being in the "anchor text", the more significant your page will seem to the search engines. Your ranking will therefore improve.

A keyway, however, of studying your competition with a view to beating them is to analyze their back linking strategies. For instance, in the recent software release called 'SEO Equalizer', and there are various functions called 'Promote your Site' and 'Maintain Your Site'.

These functions however can be used to in fact analyze other sites. In the software package, instead of entering your own website URL, analyze the ones of your competitors and superiors.

Finding your competition sites is very straightforward. Once you have identified through keyword research the keyword which you wish to dominate, you enter that term into Google and literally copy and paste the organic search result URLs from the first page one by one into the analyze feature of your SEO Software.

Within a few moments, you will get a list of all of the websites that backlink to that page. All the major packages also will tell you the Google PR of those sites. This information is extremely helpful. It is staggering how often, particularly in even a very competitive niche such as the internet marketing environment, the sites that appear in the first page of the organic Google search results have hardly any quality back links or are hardly optimized for the relevant keywords in the niche.

They will usually have 10 or so links that most of these will be to sites with a Google PR of zero. It is clear that hardly anyone is utilizing a sensible search engine optimization methods.

The major packages, including the new release SEO Equalizer, also have an ability to analyze keywords utilized in a relevant page. This information can be used in two ways. First, you can analyze your direct competitors to see whether their pages are optimized for the key word phrase to which you are aiming. Secondly, you can go to a website like Clickbank and find the best sites advertising products in your niche.

You then one of that site through the key word analysis of feature on your SEO program and find which sites are optimized for what keywords. If you feel that site is being run by someone who knows what they are doing, (an authority site) the chances are they have optimized their sight for the best keywords. And they have it, immediate quick keyword research. Copy and use.

Of course, you can then run those authority sites through the back link Analysis feature and find the source of their back links. Once you have a list of back linking partners for the authority sites and a list of the back linking partners for your competitor sites, you can begin to approach and compile your own list a back links with a view to dominating those keywords.

SEO software is therefore a vital ingredient in the internet and affiliate marketers arsenal in finding keywords and creating an effective SEO campaign. Buf use it to study your competitors!

My Sales Funnel Theory of Article Marketing VI

Then they buy your $5000 product and they open it up one night and start to read the first few paragraphs. Then their favorite show comes on on tv. So they decide to work on your program tomorrow. Then tomorrow their buddy calls and wants to have a beer.

Then the next day they pick up the package again, but they figure they dont need the introduction so they skip to the first chapter. Thinking that is too elementary for them, they skip to the third chapter, where you start talking to them about how to think about a product that the world really needs. And they already know what they want to sell, so they skip that one too. Then their wife (or husband) needs something. Next.

After a few weeks of this they have done nothing, they think your product is worthless because they havent gotten anything out of it and the banana tree in their backyard hasnt started raining million dollar bills yet.

Of course it hasnt. An internet business is hard work.

That is why I would much rather work with someone who already has their foot in the door. For example, in internet marketing, that means I target people who already have a web site, or who are already article marketing because then I have weeded out the dreamers and am only working with workers.

So all of that to explain why I do not like to work with raw beginners. I like to work with people who have already taken some initiative

Article Marketing Techniques Revealed - 7 Article Marketing Techniques for More Traffic and Sales

Have you ever picked up one of your favorite books, skimmed through the beginning, then didn't stop reading until you were on chapter 10?

That's your number one technique for writing effective articles:

1. Captivating introduction
I guarantee that's a book that had a good introduction! Try to captivate your readers to read on. What good is an article if no one gets past the first paragraph?

2. Benefit driven headline, something quantitative
7 benefits of this, 4 tips of that, something with a definable characteristic they know they will be getting more information about.

3. Benefit-driven subheadings
You are providing information for the reader, but focus on benefits, not just features. Don't just say, "This widget has five arms." Focus on benefits, such as, "More family time: This widget does the dishes and the laundry at the same time.

4. No need to keyword-cram
Contrary to popular belief, you do not need to lower the quality of your writing by cramming keywords for a particular density. (If you don't know what I'm talking about, then don't worry about it.) All you need to do is have your keyword in title, a couple of times in intro, and mention it in conclusion.

5. Call to action
Make a strong close that encourages them to take action now. Do not delay, convince them that if they do not take action now, they will be missing out. Try not to sound salesy. This is an informative article.

6. Author's Resource Box
This is where you can sell yourself. Again, make it benefit driven, give them a reason to visit your website that if they don't they will be missing out on something great. I recommend making each one a little different to give it more relevant to your article subject. It's always good to offer free information or a no-risk proposition.

Something like,

7. Be consistent!
Publish new content once a week or once a month. Honestly, the time frame should fit with your schedule. If you want to be aggressive, do one article per week. Less so, one article per month. Just be consistent. This looks good for publishers and readers.

Getting Started With Keyword Research

Detailed keyword research is an essential first step for any online business.

Comprehensive keyword research reports are invaluable tools for conducting effective market research, analysis of the competition, managing a profitable paid internet advertising campaign and creating content for a website.

Good keyword research is also very important as you are building traffic to the website with link building. These, and other search optimization and search marketing activities ,are really only effective after extensive keyword research has been completed.

Once the critical first step of keyword research reporting has been completed you can use this report in several different ways.

There are many situations where you may wish to do a quick check on a keyphrase or you may want to add new keywords that you discover from investigating which search terms your website is found by.

In this way, you will constantly want to be updating these lists with more highly targeted keywords and more. Keywords, search volume, and, most importantly, competition does change over time.

Let's get started by creating a comprehensive list of keywords for our target market niche or business.

First, search Google using a few words relating to your chosen product or niche. At the bottom of each page of results you'll find a few suggested keywords.

Paste all these and the word or words you searched with into notepad. Once you have collected 10 or more keywords and key phrases, save the document.

You now have a good list of seed keywords for use in creating a more detailed keyword list. Now check out Freekeywords.wordtracker. There's no need to create an account.

Copy and paste or type in the first keyword or key phrase on your list. A list of up to 100 keywords will come up based on what you entered. Now, take this list and copy and paste to notepad.

Save this document, giving it a name related to the seed keyword you entered.

From this list of keywords, you can select the hyper linked key phrase and then you are shown a list of up to another 100 keyword phrase for that keyword phrase.

Simply complete the above steps with each list, progressively "drilling down" to the more highly-targeted keywords.

Some of these may be clearly unrelated to your niche or product. Discard them. If there are any real general keywords that may apply in a number of other areas, then discard those, as well.

Once completed, this process should give hundreds, if not thousands of keywords to work with. With this list you can learn much more about your competition and determine the best strategy to market and grow your online business.

In the next article we will discussing using this list find out who's searching for what and how many websites are competing for those potential visitors.

Brad Davidson Writes for http://www.competitionreporting.com about topics related to search engine optimization and search engine marketing. If you have just decided to use article marketing as your product and website promotional tool, I would say congratulations as you have made the right choice! This amazing marketing technique can bring lots of traffic and potential clients to your website.

Here are the 5 methods to jumpstart your article marketing:

1. Produce well-written and content-rich articles. Article marketing is all about selling your articles online. You would want them to be read and widely distributed by marketers and ezine publishers to boost the number of your inbound links. That could only happen if you offer them articles that flow well and offer valuable and useful information.

2. Write more. The quantity of your articles play crucial role in augmenting the number of your inbound links and strengthening your online presence. When you consistently submit at least 5 articles per day, people will see you as an expert on your chosen niche who has so much valuable information to share.

3. Choose your topics. It would be highly beneficial to write about topics that are closely related to your line of business and products. This will not only help you establish what you know on your chosen niche, it would also bring qualified traffic to your website.

4. Make your articles easy on the eyes. There are times that you can't help but to write lengthy articles to effectively make your readers understand your main points. Article Marketing - A Low Cost Tool For Small Business Owners

In the present scenario, millions of pre-existing websites are being further populated by newer additions on daily basis, as the majority of business concerns are going online in order to exploit wider markets across national frontiers. As a domino effect, the advertising and marketing of websites have gone extremely competitive and expensive. Under the circumstances, it seems only a financially resourceful websites can survive. But it is not entirely true.

With advent of Article Marketing, small business concerns have renewed hope of survival and success. Article marketing is a cost-effective and logical web-marketing stunt being extensively employed by seasoned SEOs (Search Engine Optimizers) or web marketers, to enhance Internet visibility of a website.

Article Marketing basically involves a website submitting informative and coherent articles to other websites. The topics of the articles are carefully chosen to stick to the basic business of the website. The articles contain a resource box with a short bio of the website and a link to the website. As articles are submitted to hundreds or even thousands of forums, blogs and e-magazines, which have their own faithful following of hundreds and thousands of readers per se, these articles result into high quantity of quality inbound links for the website from outside, without having to buy, beg or reciprocate links.

As a rule, these inbound links from other web addresses act as "votes" of confidence for the search engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN. The number of these votes of confidence determines the ranking of the website address in SERPs (Search Engine Ranking Pages). And of course, higher the ranking of the website, the better Internet visibility for the website, which in turn translates into better business prospects and optimized turnover.

With an easy opportunity to showcase expertise and wisdom, the articles present themselves as means of confidence building measures to a prospective customer, who is thus reinforced about the quality of the products and services of the website in no uncertain terms. The articles pre-sell the products and services of the website and offers seven to ten times better advertising than regular advertising. The articles allow effective filtration of the net traffic to render highly qualified traffic mostly. After reading a coherent and informative article on a product or service, a first time visitor to the website visits it with a positive outlook and is easily convinced about the authenticity of the offerings of the website.

Whats more, Article Marketing is incredibly economical in nature and has the least toll on the marketing budget of any website. To undertake article marketing, all the site needs to do is to write informative, easy to understand and articulate articles on subjects relevant to the business of the website and submit these articles to maximum of web based forums, blogs and ezines. These websites are always seeking informative articles free of cost. They do not charge anything while accepting an article. However, some of them may charge a nominal amount to further the articles to other forums / blogs / e-magazines.

With Article marketing, a website may relieve itself from other marketing stunts involving cold calls or face-to-face sales appointments to sell their products and services. A small-scale business website may feel rescued from the need to buy links or beg for links, which also involves spending valuable effort, time and money. Unlike direct marketing and paid advertisements, a well written article may continue to be republished on various newsletters, websites, forums, blogs and trigger a viral marketing effect, to last for a longer span of time.

Pay Per Click is Dying - Pay Per Visitor is Tomorrow's Choice

Are you an astute Internet marketer who has been laboriously adding AdSense ads to all of your site pages, hoping that a small percentage of your site visitors will click and make you money? Perhaps you include a few affiliate banners and advertisements for your own products too.

AdSense and affiliate selling have been, and are still popular and many people claim to make excellent livelihoods from them. I've been selling other people's stuff online since 1998 and have generated thousands of dollars income. My AdSense account provides a regular income, but nothing to write home about.

For those who might not be familiar with AdSense, it's a Google program whereby you place Google advertisements aligned with your sites topic on your pages and, when people click on them, you earn Pay Per Click income.

Unfortunately, we Internet marketers cannot set up an income stream and sit back and just wait for it to continue earning income day after day. If for no other reason, the economic law of diminishing returns suggests that eventually we'll reach an income peak and then our income will begin to drop off. When there are millions of html pages in cyberspace with AdSense adverts, the number of total clicks is distributed among a greater number of AdSense clients and therefore, many people get a little bit of income rather than a few people getting a huge income. (There are of course exceptions)

So, what's the solution?

The solution is to diversify and be an early adopter of new technology and methods. By diversifying we can have some small assurance that while some income generating activities are running poorly, others will keep us going. By adopting new technology, we get in early on the first wave of interest from consumers. In some cases, where a multi-level marketing approach is used (unlike with AdSense), it's possible to set up a comfortable residual income that continues flowing in well after the trend has become obsolete or less popular.

The newly emerging marketing technique called Pay Per Page (PPP) is tomorrow's trend and an interesting change from Pay Per Click that requires a conscious action on behalf of a site visitor. With PPP people only have to visit a page for five seconds for site owners to earn money.

How does this work? Simple, website owners place a piece of Javascript on their pages and when someone visits a five second audio advertisement occurs. The audio is only heard once by a visitor. Unlike PPC, PPP does not require a visitor to do anything. A commission is paid for every visitor. Can you see how superior this method is to PPC where only a small percentage of people who visit click on an advertisement?

Another distinct benefit for early adopters is that this program, commencing soon, has a multi-tier payment structure whereby adopters can also receive a part commission based on what their sign-ups earn. Like all multi-level-marketing programs, if you get in on the ground floor, work hard to sign-up a few hundred people, you can generate some healthy income. There are literally thousands of exemplars pointing at the success of this type business model.

Needless to say, this evolving model will eventually succumb to the laws of diminishing returns too, but those of us who are early adopters will have a nice period of high earnings until the next whizz-bang marketing method arrives.

To learn more about PPP, visit my site and click the banner.

Article Marketing - How to Write an Article When You Don't Have Time to Write an Article

Some days I feel like I just turn around and the day is gone. I dont think I have time to write, most days, but I some how do manage to write almost every day.

When I first get up in the morning, I find I have about twenty minutes before anyone else gets up, calls me, or figures out that they need my attention for whatever given topic they want me to do. Twenty minutes isnt long, so I have to get whatever Im going to do, done fast.

There are several methods of Article Writing Starting Processes that work well for me:

1. Start a list of topics

2. Add sub-topics under each topic

3. Add more topics and expand each sub-topic into more sub-topics

4. Write a paragraph about a topic.

5. Write down a quote about a topic.

6. Write down any thoughts on a given topic.

7. Write down a thought about where you got the topic idea.

All of these go into a single Document File, and I pull random ideas from the list, if Im stuck for a topic or writing idea. Beyond these, I use a spiral to jot down ideas when Im not at my computer. I have a small box by my computer where I put slips of paper that I list ideas and topics whenever Im not at the computer and dont have the spiral. Im always and forever, calling myself to leave a message --- TOPIC IDEA.

Literally, If I sat down and wrote constantly for two months, I dont think I could ever run out of ideas.

Once I have ideas, the writing goes fast:

1. Write a working Title

2. Ask a question.

3. Answer it with a referral to your article.

4. Write your specific format - tips, paragraphs, or thoughts.

5. Ask your reader if you can help them find an answer.

6. Write a quick referral and link to your site.

7. Copyright your article.

Youre done!

Article Marketing - Revealed - 5 First Secrets to Supercharge Your Article Marketing

Article marketing has earned the nods of millions of webmasters. However, there are still quite a few who do not fully understand the process and particularly concern about duplication of content that may result from submitting the same article to various publishing sites. Some webmasters are wary as they do not wish to be penalized by major search engines particularly by Google.

In this article I will discuss the first 5 secrets to supercharge your article marketing by using article as your website content and article marketing material without worrying about content duplication and penalties from search engines.

1. Use only original articles on your website. You are the only one who have control over your webpage, so you must be particularly careful on the content that you will put in it. To avoid duplication, make sure that your website content is fresh, unique, and all original. By doing so, you can please search engines and you will avoid penalties for content duplication.

2. When you decide to do article marketing, make sure that you post your article on your website first. This is to alert the search engines that your content is original and cannot be found elsewhere. Submit the articles to publishing sites after 5-7 days, giving enough time for search engines to acknowledge your content on your website.

3. When you are ready to submit to publishing sites, prioritize the best, most popular article submission sites. These sites are constantly searched by webmasters and publishers so they can get articles that will be republished.

4. Once done with the major publishing sites, you can then post your articles to other not-so popular article submission sites, blogs, forums, and social networking sites.

5. To better position yourself as a great source of information, make sure your consistently write and submit articles on a regular basis.

Best Article Marketing - Announcing 4 Secrets to Advance with Article Marketing

If you want to advance in article marketing, you need to be more aggressive in publishing your article online. Don't be contented with article submission sites. To create more inbound links for your website, you can also post your articles to your blog, websites, forums, or compile them to create an ebook.

Looking for other secrets to advance with article marketing? Read on!

1. Make use of killer titles. Articles with boring titles seldom create interest online because people automatically think that if your titles are not good enough, your articles are not worth reading so why should they bother and check out your content? Avoid this from happening by making your titles striking and attention-grabbing. It would also help to incorporate keywords on your headlines to make your articles highly searchable online.

2. Inform before your advertise. Impart some of your knowledge that you think will be valuable and useful to your readers. Make sure that the information you include in your content can help you establish your expertise on your chosen niche. When you are able to educate or help people, it would be easier to convince them to visit your website and join your newsletters.

3. Use compelling resource box. To increase your conversation rate, you have to make your resource box attention-grabbing and enticing. Communicate your expertise, the problems that you solve and your desire to help. Don't forget to include your website's URL and the reasons why readers should click on it.

4. Make your articles scannable. When people open an article that's made up of lengthy paragraphs and barely contain page breaks, they are most likely to close it and move to other articles that are easy on the eyes. Online users prefer articles that are easily to skim through so they can quickly find specific information that they need. To help them out, make your articles scannable by using sub headings, bullet points, and numbered list when appropriate.

5 Top Places To Get Incoming Links To Your Website

It's a well-known fact that to rank highly on the search engines, you need lots of quality backlinks (links pointing back to your website). Here are 5 of the best places for you to get incoming links:

1. Social bookmarking sites

Post up your social bookmarks at popular sites like Digg, reddit and Stumble Upon. This is a great way to get high Page Rank backlinks to your site quickly and easily.

2. Blogs

You can create several blogs on Wordpress and Blogger and have some links pointing back to your site. Blogs have an instant high Page Rank which you can leverage on. The more blogs which link to your website, the higher your website will rank, especially if the blogs are relevant to your website. Another way you can utilize this tactic is to contact other blog owners and have them link to your site, and vice-versa.

3. Classified Ads

You can also use the search engine optimization power of classified ads sites like US Free Ads to get some quality backlinks. Simply write up a short ad and include a link to your site.

4. Articles

Write articles and submit them to article directories, and have your URL in the resource box. This is an amazing way to get your links viral.

5. Forums

Good forums are often ranked highly on the search engines because of the amount of new content they generate daily. Search for some forums in your niche and make posts, while including your link in your signature file.

Search Engine Optimization Without Spending A Dime

Search engine optimization is a complex business and not for everyone.

Each search engine has its own way of ranking sites. Each search engine has certain key things that it looks for. Therefore, optimizing for all search engines is just not possible. Focus on the top 3 and you will have yourself covered for about 75% - 80% of all searches.

What we are going to discuss here are some of the concepts and methods to help you rank your site(s) higher through the organic search results.

Organic vs. Paid Search

What are natural or organic search results? First, you have to understand that search engines are not in the search results business. They are in the advertising business. If you understand this, understanding organic vs. paid search is much easier.

Think of the results page of almost any search engine. The top of the results page and down at least one of the sides are reserved for the paid search results. Each of the links shown in these areas must bid on their place on the results page. The higher the ranking in these areas, the more the owner of the site had to bid. If you click on one of these links, the site owner's account got hit for the amount they bid.

Therefore, the quickest way for a new site to rank on the search engines is to pay for the ranking. Depending on the keyword you want to rank for this can cost as little as $.05 and go way up from there.

Organic results are those down the middle of the page. Usually, you see 10 results per page. It has been widely discussed and proven that if you are not in the top 30 (3 pages) results that your site will probably not be seen.

Keywords and Keyword Phrases

They may sound alike but they can be a huge key to your SEO success.

Keywords are just that. Individual words or maybe a pair of words that you might want to optimize your site for. For example, on our Gift Basket site you might think that we want to rank well for "gift baskets". While this may be true, the competition for this specific keyword is immense. The top-ranked sites have been entrenched for several years. A new site has little chance of ranking well against these.

Keyword Phrases might be a better choice for ranking against the entrenched players. Studies have shown that the average user of search engines have evolved over time to use more words in their searches in an attempt to narrow the huge amount of search results. If you think about it, having over 2,000,000 results sounds good until you try to work your way through them to find exactly what you are looking for.

Using searches of 3 - 5 keywords in a phrase is the search user's way of narrowing the search before they click "Go". Understanding this, you can then optimize your site for keyword phrases instead of simple keywords.

In our case, instead of optimizing for "gift baskets" and fighting the big boys we optimized for the keyword phrase "gift baskets under $40" and we not only rank high (# 1 at this writing), we get a better qualified visitor to our site who is truly looking for something we have to sell.

On Site Optimization

Get as much education as possible to learn what Meta Tags are. Title, keyword and description tags are the most important. Depending on the type of software used to create your site, you may need to learn some html programming to make changes to these tags.

Simply put, on Google, the results shown are:

  • Title tag is the 1st line of a search engine result
  • The site description is the verbiage that follows on lines 2 - 3
  • The page URL is the bottom of the result listing

Other important factors for on-site optimization are:

  • Heading tags in the body of the page. These would be h1, h2, h3, h4 and h5 tags.
  • The use of strong tag for bringing emphasis to key words
  • Keyword saturation. Using the keywords a number of times per page, but not overloading.
  • Beginning the page and ending the page with the keywords for that page.
  • Alt tags in images. That is giving a name to every image on the page that has the keywords in the name.
  • Links to other sites. This is one that caught me off-guard. Google raises your status with links to other relative sites. Not linking to sites sometimes called "link farms". Rather links to your competitors, for instance, would be considered a good thing by Google.

Landing Pages

Quite simply, a landing page is specifically designed to highlight a keyword or keyword phrase for which you would like to draw traffic.

On this page you should focus on the keyword phrase. Either write good content or search for off site content to bring in to bring focus to your keyword phrase. Make this page a complete authority on your keyword phrase. Use images, article links, rss feeds and any other resource you can think of to highlight the keyword phrase. Remember, search engines are looking for good, original content to enhance their search results. Give them what they are looking for.

Off Site Optimization

A good way of looking at this is to think of pointing people to your site much like posting signs around town. How often are you driving around and see realtor signs pointing you to a home for sale or to a new neighborhood? How about other small signs advertising a new business or other local small business?

Off site optimization is a fancy way of saying you need to post signs around town to draw attention to your business. Only your "town" is nothing smaller than the entire planet!

Inbound links are regarded highly by Google and other search engines. Think of an inbound link as a vote for your site as being of interest. Search engines want interesting sites to enhance their results. The more links (votes) your site gets from other interesting sites, the better. Remember to avoid link farms as sites are sometimes penalized for their links to these sites.

Here are some places to post your signs around town:

  • Free classified ads. There are several sites that allow you to post free classified ads with links to your site. A word of caution here. Only use reputable sites. There are several that are spam sites. Check each out carefully before proceeding.
  • If you are not a blooger, become one. Place your website link in the signature of each posting. Actively contribute to blogs and you will be amazed at the responses you receive and the traffic that is generated.
  • Write articles. Make no mistake. The primary reason that I am taking time to write this article is obtain inbound links to our sites.
  • True link exchanges. While not as important as even a year ago, exchanging links with a related site is still a good thing. A related site would be a site that compliments your site or even competes with it on some level. Completely and utterly avoid links to sites that has a primary purpose of exchanging links.

Site Submission

There are any number of sites offering to submit your site to over 1,500,000 search engines. Folks, you don't need that many submissions. The vast majority of those sites are nothing more than spammers looking for your E-mail.

Google, MSN and Yahoo all have their own site submission pages. Yahoo does require that you have an account to submit the page. Other than that, it is a pretty simple procedure and doesn't take a huge amount of effort. They are easy to find. Use the search engine to find it! Enter 'site submission, MSN' into Google and see how fast the site submission page is found.

Time Frame For Results

It varies. There are so many factors to consider to give even a 'guesstimate' is wrong, other than to say that whatever effort you put into SEO will return some level of results.

What I am confident in promising is that if you concentrate on providing the search engines with original and quality content presented in a logical and understandable manner they will respond by ranking your site. Each of our sites were ranked within weeks of the site going live for certain keyword phrases and we continue to climb in other areas.

Yes, you do have to work at SEO. However, the results are well worth the time, and you keep the dime.

Dog Link Dog World - Website Linking Strategies for Webmasters

For a site to get long term free traffic from the search engines. Understanding of website linking strategies needs to be applied. This strategy needs to fit with your business model and must be sustainable over time. Traffic from some links, takes time to develop.

At this time, Google is winning the search engine war. The majority of webmasters approach a linking strategy purely for SEM (Search Engine Marketing). More links to a site is a key when looking to get found in Google

The overall goal should be traffic results based, not purely for search engines.

Links can take a long time to show up and help your rankings. A site that would help indirectly with search marketing results would be Wikipedia.

This free online library allows edits to apply external links to the bottom its pages. The site has a many million pages and a vast amount of traffic

Now Wikipedia has applied the no follow' HTML tag on its external page links to stop it being abused by some webmasters. This can be seen on any site using this process, by the following steps:

1. Highlight the link by left mouse and holding 2. Right mouse the link and look at the properties.

The text "Nofollow" can be seen in the properties

The no follow tag means Page Rank (or Reputation - PR) will not be passed on to your site and Google will not count it as a link. To Quote Wikipedia:

"nofollow" actually tells a search engine "Don't score this link" rather than "Don't follow this link."

However many of the Wikipedia pages rank very high on Google, and features as a trusted authority site which has power in all search engines. It is likely to send targeted traffic which is really the end result you are looking for anyway.

At the same time, different engines treat these links differently. In a recent interview with the Yahoo director of search, they have stated that the link will be followed to the site, however the details of the link will not be passed on, simply that your site will be found.

There is an easy way to identify these types of links, if you use the Web Browser, Firefox which I highly recommended. It is a good alternative to Internet Explorer as its very clean and easy to use.

It has an Search Engine Marketing add on which, when installed and turned on, it will show you the no follow links highlighted in red.

Also, while searching in Google, it will show a large amount of information on links to the listings, age of the site, alexa ranking etc.

Download it here:

http://tools.seobook.com/firefox/seo-for-firefox.html

Another method that has been used to acquire links, is that of posting comments on blogs. This has resulted in a rash of posting comments only for return links. Wordpress, a quality open source blog software platform, has made all the comment links no follow in order to combat this.

In conclusion, there are many effective linking strategies, for marketing online at the same time the development of goals with an overall plan for the development of these goals should be applied.

Building Your List With Co-Registration

Co-registration (a process where by someone subscribing to an information service is presented with options for subscribing to other services at the same time) is one underutilized method for building your list. A co-reg lead only pays you for an opt-in, and you can expect to pay about $0.15 to $1.00 per opt in, so it's not cheap.

The importance of co-reg leads, and what makes them worth the price, is two-fold. Even more than a squeeze page, a co-reg lead gets you people who are interested in the products and services you offer. There are companies devoted to generating and renting co-reg leads...and you've heard of most of them. Yahoo Small Business Marketing is one of the biggest in the field.

Second, you only pay for the actual registration, rather than the typical pay per click cost on the ad Once you do a cost benefit analysis - how many ad clicks you get on an ad versus how many actual sign-ups caused by that ad, co-reg leads look pretty compelling in comparison. Like a pay per click ad campaign, it's best to start small, and refine your targeting for each co-reg generation step, until you're getting the results you want. Make sure it's a sustainable expense as you do this.

Now, co-reg leads have a very high drop out rate. You need to move on a new co-reg lead fast, and cut straight to the place where being on your list gives them a tangible, palpable benefit, much more so than you did with a pay per click ad. Co-reg leads have a conversion rate of about 8 to 10% of a "hard lead" gotten through a squeeze page; the main criteria for cost benefit again is how many pay per click ads did you use for that one sign-up, and how many people was your pay per click ad exposed to versus the co-reg lead?

To provide an immediate benefit, make sure that your opt in confirmation letter has a link to a sample report that they'll get, or online archives of your newsletter. (You do archive your newsletters, right?) Something that lets them determine early on that you're worth subscribing and listening to. Don't be afraid to "give away something of value" - your long term benefit is from building the relationship with the qualified purchaser.

As with any kind of lead generation service, you should use known good business practices (double opt in, easy unsubscriptions) to make your case, and build and establish your credibility. You should also read the fine print carefully. You want legitimate co-reg lead generation, not a spam service that will get you nothing but drop-outs.

List Building Campaign - 4 Checklist Using Traffic Exchanges As Lead Generators

Not satisfied with your current traffic exchange campaign ? Or you think traffic exchange are just crap? Well that's because you're using it the wrong way!. Traffic exchange was not build to sell product with long sales page or promoting content sites. The reason is because most, if not all, traffic surfers don't stay longer than the required timer to earn credits. Thus the only effective choice of using them is to use them as lead generators.

But unfortunately, not all squeeze page built for list building is appropriate for traffic exchange purposes. Below, I have listed some of the criteria.

1. Quick Loading Site

Most TE have a timer in place ranging from 15-30 seconds. If your site can't load within the time frame don't be surprised you get no traffic at all! This will limit your squeeze page design because pages that are heavily crammed with flash graphics, videos and audios are bound to load longer compared to regular text based squeeze page.

2. Calls Out To You

Surfers are only interested in grabbing more credits for themselves. So how do you get their attention? Simple by calling out to them...

"Want more credits surfing XXXX traffic exchange?"

"An unique, never-seen-before FREE income opportunity for xxx users!"

You get the picture...

3. Hand Over Information

Remember I said earlier that you should use TE as lead generators? This is the part where you actually collect their names and email addresses.

The benefit for receiving your free information must grossly outweigh the cost of handing over their details. You MUST have someway to collect and build a list. I strongly recommend getting a good autoresponder.

4. Something You Want!

You need to give away something valuable and useful enough for them to TAKE ACTION NOW! Think about it, you're a traffic surfer yourself, what things could you possibly want? Brainstorm for just 20 minutes and I guarantee you'll come up with a nice short list of what they want.

To sum it all up, traffic exchange are not crap. List building using TE as a source of traffic is possible. Even I used it myself. Every traffic building system WORKS, as long as you know how to use it !

Do you want to know how do I build a super responsive list from scratch and monetize from it over and over again?

I will show you how to build massive list in short time!
