Lead Generation - Building Your List

Your first question in building a successful business should be how do I find people who want to be part of my team or consume my products or service? You need to build a list or generate your own leads.

Typical Network Marketing

The stereotypical network marketing training programs usually suggests starting with a warm market by making a list of your family and friends. They also teach the 3-foot-rule method of talking to everyone who has the misfortune of walking in your path or standing in the same line at the bank. Who wants to do that?

Another problem is you will eventually exhaust your warm market. Now if you want to share your products go for it, but if your friends and family haven't asked for an opportunity pitch why are you giving them one? It can frustrate you into giving up and quitting before you start.

Generating Pre-qualified Leads

Focus on a target audience who are looking for the type of products you are selling or a moneymaking opportunity you are offering. There are email lists or direct marketing list rentals out there to purchase your targeted audience. Fortunately, the Internet has made it easier and less expensive to find target markets through lead systems and tools to develop the relationship.

Other ways to build a list:

- PPC

- Content

- Purchased Leads

- Website

- Safelists

- FFA Lists

- Lead Generation Systems

PPC - -

We are talking about pay-per-click advertising. Google Adwords and Yahoo/Overture ppc are among the best and the fastest to get you moving in no time.

Content - -

This is a subject that could take up a whole course. Content is good, better than good. It can get your website moving as well as generate leads. One example is a press release. These work well and really get your name and website out there.

Leads - -

If you can make a deal with a leads distributor, go for it. Did you know that many lead companies would actually give you free leads to try them out?

Just a warning about leads. Before you email any leads make sure you have a reputable resource, and you can actually call these people on the phone. There are many lead sources that tell you they have great lead prices, but they could actually get you shut down because they were illegally harvested. Be careful on this one.

Making Use of Your Website - -

Unfortunately, people still believe if they build a website, the people will flock to it and money will start pouring in. This is a myth that is still being perpetuated to people who are new on the Internet, who are unknowingly just being led to the slaughter and losing time and money.

There are many ways to make use of your website and bring people to you. Learn how to optimize it with the search engines. Determine keywords people will use to look for your
Website, be specific. Weave those keywords into your website copy, images, meta tags, site description and page title. You can use Wordtracker for testing out keyword
relevance. They have a free trial to check it out.

Also make use of:

- Blogs

- Online journals

- RSS Feeds

These things can keep people coming back and develop a relationship with you and your company. It's called stickiness.

Robert Allen said in his book, Multiple Streams of Internet Income, "Most beginning marketers spend 90 percent of their time creating the perfect product and 10 percent of their time finding a perfect audience. The secret is to reverse the ratio: Spend 90 percent of your time finding the right audience. I call this 'finding hungry fish'".

Offering knowledge, eBooks and other free goodies will also help to build a list and generate your own leads. Be creative and think outside of the box. People will come to you in no time.

Some Important Methods To Get Higher Rankings And Maintain The Rankings In Search Engines

Every online marketer desire for a top place in search engines. Every search engine has different algorithms for rankings, but there are few things that are common to all and are highly beneficial to attain better search engine placements.

No Quick Fix

There are no hasty remedies in attaining high rankings in search engines. It will take time for your efforts to bear fruits. Hence, it is imperative to develop and implement a SEO strategy before starting optimizing your website.

Keywords

Keywords are the most significant part of search engine optimization and keyword research is the foremost step in the SEO process.
Don't spend time on keywords with high competition, target high potential or focused keywords. Use key phrases of 2-3 words instead of using a single keyword, this way you make a search more specific and easy for visitors.
Some of the good tools for keyword research are: wordtracker, google adwords, SEObook, etc.

Meta Data

Create Meta title tags and description tags; write the essence of the website with the targeted keywords in it. This is the only other part of the results you have any control over. Google will also highlight the keywords in here that match the search query. Remember to keep it descriptive and readable.

Domain Names

If you can, try and include your main keywords in your domain name. Google will highlight them when they match the search query. This can give your ranking a little boost bcause it will show that your website is relevant to the search query.

Quality Content

Content is still the king. Write quality content on your website. It should be meaningful, relevant, grammatically correct and informative.
From SEO perspective, include the targeted keywords, but make sure keyword density doesn't go beyond 3% of the entire content. Use targeted keywords in the headings, initial text of the content and sprinkle them in- between.

Link Building

Today, the most successful way to enhance your rankings is link popularity. Try to get as many one-way links as you can. Although two-way links are good, but weightage is given to non-reciprocal links. Write articles; submit them to article directories, social media sites, etc.; you can also write blogs, but don't forget to include a brief author's biography which should incorporate links to your website.

Reciprocal linking can easily be attained. You may not get desired results initially; once you gain a better page rank, the process will be easy for you. Always exchange links with relevant site. Hundreds of irrelevant links won't help you in anyway.

Submitting Site To DMOZ

Submit your website to DMOZ because several search engines including Googles use DMOZ results in their organic results. Your website may rank without its presence in it but there are chances of receiving more backlinks with DMOZ.

Create Blogs

Start writing blogs on your website. Google gives weight to blogs as they contain good amount of content and are consistently updated. Incorporate stories, articles or anything relevant to your website, if the information is liked by visitors, they will return back for more and link to you.

Hunting in Packs - A Group Approach to Link Building

Sam's Club and CostCo are famous business models based on buying in bulk and utilizing economies of scale. You can use similar tactics for your link building efforts by using what I refer to as "hunting in packs" to build links.

What does that mean? Well, combined with the knowledge that if someone is willing to link to one site, they are probably open to linking to more than one, you could team up with a group of related businesses, hire one person amongst all of you to go out and seek linking opportunities that would benefit all of you.

Imagine you and three related business owners, decide to hire a college student over the summer to build links for all of you. You all chip in one fourth of the cost and tell him to find businesses that are related and try to negotiate getting links for ALL of your sites on that one site.

You can significantly reduce the cost per website that is linking to you if you are splitting the cost between multiple business owners and still get the benefit of quality websites linking to your individual websites.

Plus, if you are willing to link back to the sites that are linking to you, you can give more value to the people that your college student is calling on because they get a 4 for 1 pop back to them as well.

The "Hunting in Packs" can be applied to other search engine optimization related topics, but the concept, as it applies to building links, is very easy to understand and implement.

Deep Linking - Get Your Website Out of the Gutter

Increasing the number of inbound links to your website is a critical part of any SEO campaign. Since the search engines rate your website partially based on how popular it is (the number of back links you have), getting better and more back links to your website will help improve your rankings.

One critical element that is often overlooked in developing an inbound linking strategy is the importance of obtaining deep links to your website. A deep link is pretty much any link that goes to your website that does NOT point at the homepage. With deep linking, you want to build links to the important internal pages of your website. This will help improve the PageRank of these internal pages and get them indexed if they are not already.

Focus on deep linking when:

  • Your homepage has a high PageRank but important internal pages have little or none (this may also be a symptom of a bad internal linking strategy)
  • A good number of pages on your website aren't getting indexed by the search engines or have low PageRank
  • You've optimized internal pages on your website for highly competitive search terms

As you would do with homepage link requests, you'll want to seek keyword-rich links from relevant websites for the internal pages on your website. Since most free website directories won't give you links to internal pages on your website, you may want to consider paying for links or exchanging links for these pages. Of course, the better and more useful the content is on your internal pages, the easier it will be to get good links.

You Have Identified Your Keyword Now What?

So you have done your ground work and identified your best targeted keyphrases now what? Well now you have the task of optimising your landing pages for best results in the search engines; however this doesn't mean spam your pages full of keyphrases. The trick to remember about optimising your webpage's for the search engines is to focus on the website visitor and not the search engines.

We all know that link building is very important but before you do that you will need to optimise your webpage's. Below I will detail some of the onsite factors that need to be addressed if your pages are to perform well.

Title

The title tag of your webpage's should all be unique and contain a short description about your webpage. Here is a good opportunity to include one of your chosen keyphrases. Only if your keyphrase reflects what is actually contained in your webpage.

Description

Your description tag also needs to be unique and contain a longer description of your webpage, around 130 characters. This is also another place where you can use your keyphrase but don't overdo it and make sure it reads well. Another good tip that is underused here is a call to action. Your search engine listing is really an advertisement for your website and you want it to be desirable for people to click on. There is many other listing fighting for the searchers attention so make yours stand out.

Keywords

The keywords tag is more or less ignored by the search engines today because of spammers misusing it. They could not be bothered to properly learn search engine optimisation so they cheated. It is still a good idea to use them though just in case.

Headings

The proper use of headings should also be observed as these also offer a good indication to the surfer what your webpage is all about. If you can include a keyphrase in here all the better but make sure it all reads well.

Incidentally if you're wondering where you can find a good SEO company that can help you with this I would recommend these guys. I have used them and found them to be great. They can also help with your website design needs, other companies are available.

These are only the basics but will put you on the road to a well optimised website. There are of course many other factors that you need to think about but they will have to wait for another day.

Link Exchange Request As a Tool For Web Promotion

When you have a business on the Internet today, you need to give it every opportunity to thrive. Having a web site that displays your products and services is a great way to alert internet surfers of your site, however, you can have the best site on the internet, but business will ultimately fail if no one knows you are there.

Most of us realize that there is not a better way to get people visiting your web site while waiting to be listed by search engines is through being linked to by other quality sites.

Advertising your web site is what will draw customers to your site. There are many ways to advertise your site, however the best way to do this is through link exchange.

Link Exchange ("Reciprocal Link Exchange") is the practice of exchanging links with other websites. It has been a long time practice by website owners since the beginning of the web. Exchanging links can save a lot of money that you otherwise would have spent on other means of Internet advertising.

Link exchange is a very effective and inexpensive approach of gaining popularity and prosperity on the world wide web. It have been used by a lot of webmasters for years as a means of direct marketing.

If you exchange links with relevant websites increases your link popularity and in part, improves search engine optimization. It is an easy and very effective way to trade links.

In order to get your request accepted, you must make sure that your site is worth linking to, it should be attractive, useful, and most importantly, have good content.

Always accept and request link exchange with sites with a similar theme as yours. Google and other Search Engine Robots give a lot of weight to relevancy.

The software for this process usually query search engines under target keywords, finds a list of high ranking website that appear in Google's first two Search Engine Results (SER) pages and then sends automated link exchange request e-mails to the Whois or Alexa contact.

Link Exchange offers one way link building to with millions of web sites exchanging links simply to improve rankings, these links tend to be free, irrelevant, only with search engines in mind and tucked away on pages stuffed with link exchange partner links.

Link exchange is one of the most important steps in search engine optimization (SEO). Web sites must be signed up with their service in order for you to exchange links with them. Web sites that have completed many link exchanges will usually experience increased traffic through direct clicks and search engine results.

Reciprocal linking is one of the most important tools for web promotion; it increases the link popularity of a web site, as long as the linking category is relevant to your site.

Something to think about: if you build a quality site you probably won't have to worry about requesting links, people will visit your site just because it is useful for them, or because you offer what they want.

A Review of Various Reciprocal Linking Options

Nowadays, reciprocal linking seems to be one of the most contentious topics when it comes to linking business. There are two types of people - one who strongly opt for reciprocal links and another expressing their disapproval regarding reciprocal linking services because they are of the belief that this might instigate penalties from search engines.

There are some reasons of this hatred - if you view it from the perspective of the search engines, reciprocal links are unable to increase the value of a website. It does not mean that the websites having information bank style reciprocal links are penalized by the search engines. The perception of exchanging links has been badly treated in a mass. It can be found often that reciprocal links are present in totally incongruent websites.

However, it can be found that website owners take way out to exchanging links. The link joins in this order, A to B, B to C, C to D, and at last D again links up with A. Still, it is not that much easy to do. In case of a webmaster, he/she will always try to swap over links in the first place.

The only reason stands behind this factor is the traffic. Traffic obtained from viewers who come about to click on that scrupulous link, and traffic from search engines who have a propensity to show first sites with great attractiveness.

Now there comes a question, why people are so unenthusiastic in using the procedure. It is a common view to see the webmasters bargain contracts to have a maximum of hundred links at a time.

Something seems to be fishy in this case - as in case of one hundred incoming links, there should be the same number of outgoing links. Main problem is that the search engines are always in search of penalizing the excess usage of this kind of procedure. You need to remember that exchanging links is not openly penalized but it is penalized when it becomes unethical.

The vital principle of search engines is that the links should be natural. It is quite possible for anyone to ask about the meaning of natural principle. The answer is simple - if two websites are having almost same topic, and they exchange links with each other, then it happens to be natural.

Natural in that sense as those links help to add worth to both the websites. Similarly, when two websites link with each other, and there is no relation between the sites at that time it becomes two fake links. For a short time it will manage some hype in the search engine rank position but, in long run it becomes a reason for penalty.

Therefore, from the above discussion, you are able to get some idea on the two main rules of reciprocal linking. You always have the opportunity to use them, but you need to be careful about avoiding too much usage. While exchanging reciprocal links, always remember that the contents of other sites must have similarity with your website. Before opting for a partner to exchange links, just shop around a little bit.
