How Does the Concept of Driving Traffic to a Website Work

The concept of driving traffic online is a simple one once you understand how things work on the Internet. People come online most of the time for 2 main reasons. To either socialize or to look for information.

Any traffic that you want to drive to your website needs to fit into one of these two main traffic patterns. I will break these two down into social traffic or search traffic. Search traffic has been around for some time and has been made even more popular by Google. Google has been able to significantly improve the search market, which brings people to their creation by the millions on a daily basis (search traffic).

You can capitalize on this traffic and bring it back to your website by learning how to get your website or page listed in their search engines. It can take some time but well worth the effort in the long run. You can either appear on the right side, which is considered as the organic search results, or on the left side, which is considered as the pay-per-click results. The left side is known to have a much higher conversion rate compared to the left side.

The second way I mentioned is by taking advantage of social traffic, with social traffic you are able to reach a group of people with common interest on a website where people come to socialize. It's the same as a community but on the Internet. Social marketing is still fairly new and being developed.

Due to the large audience, once you are a member of the community you can expose your message to a large group and usually for free.
